Oral Surgery

Oral Surgery: What is it?

Oral surgery is an essential area of Dentistry that focuses on the diagnosis and surgical treatment of diseases, injuries and anomalies of the teeth, mouth, jaws and associated structures.

Some of these areas of intervention are the placement of dental implants, tooth extractions and removal of oral lesions.

When it is necessary...

The need for oral surgery may arise in several situations, such as:

  • Tooth extraction: Including wisdom teeth or teeth that are compromising oral health.

  • Dental implants: Replacement of missing teeth with artificial roots attached to the jawbone.

  • Lesions and cysts: Removal of abnormal formations in the oral cavity.

  • Corrective surgeries: Treatment of problems such as malocclusion or bone remodeling.

  • Trauma: Repair of damage caused by accidents or injuries to the jaw and mouth.

  • Bone grafts: Procedures for bone reconstruction aiming at dental implants.

  • Frenectomy: Correction of labial or lingual frenulum that may impact speech or eating.

  • Oral Biopsy: Removal of tissue for laboratory analysis and early diagnosis of diseases.

  • Treatment of Infections: Interventions to drain abscesses and severe infections in the oral cavity.

Tooth Extraction:
The most common surgery

Probably the most common procedure in oral surgery is tooth extraction. Although some extraction surgeries can be more complex and require more advanced surgical techniques, "pulling a tooth" is usually a simple procedure with a comfortable post-operative period for the patient.

In most situations, tooth extractions are performed under local anesthesia, but some cases may require general anesthesia, either due to their complexity or even the patient's anxiety.

Painless Oral Surgery:
The Revolution of Comfort and Security

Today, Oral Surgery is a safe, precise and virtually painless procedure, thanks to advances in anesthesia and minimally invasive techniques. With the use of modern anesthetics and advanced technology, procedures are performed in complete comfort, ensuring that the patient does not feel any pain during the procedure. In addition, adequate post-operative monitoring minimizes any discomfort, providing a smooth recovery. At LP CLINIC, we prioritize your well-being, making any surgical treatment a safe and fear-free experience.

Anxiety-Free Surgery:
The Power of Sedation for Your Comfort

In more complex cases or for patients with high levels of anxiety, deep sedation or general anesthesia can be used, ensuring a completely painless and comfortable procedure. Deep sedation allows the patient to remain relaxed and unaware of the procedure, while general anesthesia is indicated for more extensive interventions, providing a state of deep sleep. Both options are performed under strict medical supervision, ensuring maximum safety and well-being for the patient throughout the treatment.
